“Apothecary Diaries” New Voice: Natsumi Fujiwara Joins the Cast!

Natsumi Fujiwara has joined the cast of “The Apothecary Diaries” Season 2 anime as the voice of Kyō-u, a character who makes his debut in the 41st episode, titled “The Fox Village.” The episode is scheduled to air on May 2nd, 2025, at 11:45 pm on Nippon TV.

Who is Natsumi Fujiwara?

Natsumi Fujiwara is a Japanese voice actress known for her roles in various anime series, including:

About “The Apothecary Diaries”

“The Apothecary Diaries” is a Japanese light novel series written by Natsu Hyūga and illustrated by Touko Shino. The story follows Maomao, a young apothecary who is kidnapped and sold to the imperial palace as a servant. Using her knowledge of medicine and poisons, Maomao solves mysteries and uncovers conspiracies within the palace walls.

Anime Adaptation

The anime adaptation of “The Apothecary Diaries” premiered in October 2023 and has been well-received by audiences. The first season aired from October 2023 to March 2024. Season 2 premiered on January 10, 2025, on Nippon TV’s FRIDAY ANIME NIGHT programming block and is set to air for two consecutive cours (quarters of a year). Crunchyroll is streaming the second season, including an English dub.

Synopsis

Set in a land ruled by an emperor, the story unfolds within the sprawling complex known as the hougong, or rear palace, where the emperor’s consorts and serving women reside. Maomao, raised in a quiet town by her apothecary father, finds herself working as a servant in the palace after being kidnapped. With her knowledge of medicine and a curious mind, she becomes involved in the various intrigues and mysteries that plague the imperial court.

The second season is available for streaming on Crunchyroll, which also offers an English dub.
