The popular manga series, The Devil Is a Part-Timer!, is set to conclude with its 24th volume. This marks the end of Akio Hiiragi’s manga adaptation of Satoshi Wagahara’s light novel series of the same name. Fans can expect the final volume to be released on June 26th.

A Hilarious Multiverse Mishap

The Devil Is a Part-Timer! tells the story of the Devil King Satan, who, after being defeated by the hero Emilia, escapes to modern-day Tokyo with his general Alciel. Stranded and powerless in a world without magic, Satan assumes the identity of Sadao Maou and starts working at a MgRonald’s fast-food restaurant to make ends meet. Alciel takes on the role of Sadao’s housekeeper, researching ways for them to regain their powers and return to their world.

The series follows their comedic struggles to adapt to human life, encountering familiar faces from their homeland and new challenges in the bustling city. Satan’s ambition shifts from conquering Ente Isla to climbing the corporate ladder at MgRonald’s, leading to plenty of hilarious situations.

From Light Novels to Manga

Satoshi Wagahara launched The Devil Is a Part-Timer! as a light novel series in 2011, featuring illustrations by 029 (Oniku). The light novel concluded in August 2020 with its 21st volume. Akio Hiiragi’s manga adaptation began in December 2011 in Kadokawa’s Monthly Comic Dengeki Daioh. The manga entered its climax in 2020, setting the stage for its conclusion with the 24th volume.

Yen Press publishes both the original light novels and the manga adaptation in North America. They describe the story as: “After being soundly thrashed by the hero Emilia, the Devil King and his general beat a hasty retreat to a parallel universe… only to land ploop
