The upcoming TV anime adaptation of Fuyu Azuma’s romantic comedy manga, “Inexpressive Kashiwada and Expressive Oota,” has just announced two new additions to its voice cast. Yumiri Hanamori and Mayu Mineda are set to bring the characters of Tabuchi-san and Odajima-san to life, respectively.
A Heartwarming Story Gets Animated
“Inexpressive Kashiwada and Expressive Oota” is a heart-warming love comedy that revolves around the unique relationship between two junior high school classmates. Kashiwada is a girl who rarely shows her emotions, while Oota is an expressive boy who wears his heart on his sleeve. Oota is always trying to surprise Kashiwada with pranks, but he never succeeds. Despite their opposite personalities, the two care deeply for each other, and their classmates are always amused by their interactions.
Meet the New Voices
Yumiri Hanamori as Tabuchi-san: Hanamori is known for her roles in various anime, including “Kakushigoto” and “After the Rain”. She will be voicing Tabuchi-san, adding another layer to the cast of characters in “Inexpressive Kashiwada and Expressive Oota”.
Mayu Mineda as Odajima-san: Mineda, recognized for her work in “Aikatsu Friends!” and “Wake Up, Girls! New Chapter,” will be lending her voice to Odajima-san. Her addition promises to bring even more charm to the anime.

Production Details
The anime series is being directed by Tomohiro Kamitani, who is known for his work on “Mix: Meisei Story Season 2”. Michiko Yokote is handling the series composition, while Naoto Nakamura is in charge of character design and also serves as the chief animation director. The music is being composed by Yukari Hashimoto and Tetsuya Shitara. STUDIO POLON is handling the animation production.

From Manga to Anime
The anime is based on the manga series by Fuyu Azuma, which was serialized in Kadokawa’s Dragon Comics Edge. The manga’s 10th and final volume was released in 2023. Fuyu Azuma launched the manga on Niconico Seiga’s Dra Dra Sharp# website in July 2018. To celebrate the anime announcement, the series creator released a commemorative illustration.
Story Synopsis
Kashiwada is a girl who never shows emotions on her face. Oota always tries to surprise her, but never succeeds. They are classmates in junior high, and Oota is constantly thinking of pranks to surprise Kashiwada, but he always fails. Kashiwada likes to look at Oota because he shows his emotions on his face too much. Although they seem like opposites, they both care about each other.

“Inexpressive Kashiwada and Expressive Oota” had a presence at AnimeJapan 2025, where fans could participate in special events. At the NBCUniversal Entertainment Japan booth, attendees could take part in an interactive photo challenge, mimicking Kashiwada’s stoic expressions or Oota’s expressive reactions and posting them on social media with specific hashtags. A special stage event also took place with the main cast.
Release Information
