The upcoming anime adaptation of Tobirano’s light novel series, “Betrothed to My Sister’s Ex” (Zutaboro Reijō wa Ane no Moto Konyakusha ni Dekiai Sareru), has revealed a new trailer, key visual, and additional cast members, stirring excitement among fans. The series is slated to premiere on July 4th in Japan, which effectively translates to July 5th at 1:53 PM JST.
What’s the Story About?
“Betrothed to My Sister’s Ex” tells the story of Marie, the neglected daughter of a baron, often treated as a servant and forced to wear tattered clothing. Her life takes an unexpected turn when she encounters Count Kyuros Granado, a wealthy nobleman who is rumored to be a misogynist. Due to a misunderstanding stemming from her appearance, Kyuros is captivated by Marie, mistaking her for a maid. However, this same misunderstanding leads him to propose to her beautiful older sister, Anastasia, instead.
Tragedy strikes when Anastasia dies in a carriage accident before the wedding. To salvage the situation and repay the already spent dowry, Marie is compelled by her family to take her sister’s place as Kyuros’s fiancée. The catch? Kyuros is unaware that the woman he was initially drawn to was Marie all along.
As Marie and Kyuros navigate their engagement, Marie struggles with low self-esteem, believing that Kyuros was truly in love with her sister. Kyuros, on the other hand, is determined to show Marie that she is the one he genuinely desires. The series promises a heartwarming tale of overcoming misunderstandings, finding love, and personal transformation.
