The highly anticipated third season of “To Your Eternity” has revealed its first trailer, exciting fans with a glimpse into Fushi’s journey in the modern era. Along with the trailer, new and returning cast members, as well as the staff, have been announced, promising a fresh and captivating chapter in this beloved anime series. Here’s everything we know so far.

Release Date and Streaming

“To Your Eternity” Season 3 is officially set to premiere in October 2025, continuing the series as part of the Fall 2025 anime season. Like the previous seasons, it will be broadcast on NHK General in Japan and streamed on Crunchyroll for international audiences.

A New World: The “Present Era” Arc

Season 3 will adapt the “This World” arc, also known as the “New World” or “Present Era” arc, from Yoshitoki Ōima’s manga. This arc marks a significant shift in the storyline, as Fushi enters a modern world filled with contemporary technology, bustling cities, and new challenges.

This change in setting promises to explore new facets of Fushi’s personality, emotions, and struggles as he adapts to a vastly different environment compared to the historical and fantastical settings of the previous seasons. Fans can anticipate a blend of the series’ signature philosophical themes with exciting new visuals and situations.

New and Returning Cast

The first trailer confirms several returning cast members and introduces new voices to the series:

  • Reiji Kawashima as Fushi (reprising)
  • Kenjiro Tsuda as The Beholder (reprising)
  • Tomori Kusunoki as Mizuha (previously the voice of Hisome in Season 2)
  • Yumiri Hanamori as Satoru
  • Megumi Han as Yuki Aoki (previously the voice of Torta in Season 2)

Staff Updates

There have been some changes in the directorial staff for Season 3:

  • Kiyoko Sayama will now serve as the chief director.
  • Shinzo Fujita (series composer), Koji Yabuno (character designer), Ryo Kawasaki (music composer), and Takeshi Takadera (sound director) are all returning.

The animation production will be handled by Drive (reprising from Season 2) in collaboration with STUDIO MASSKET.

Story So Far

“To Your Eternity” follows the journey of Fushi, an immortal being initially created as an orb. This orb has the ability to transform into anything that stimulates it and can revive after death. Over time, Fushi evolves from an orb to a rock, then to a wolf, and eventually to a human boy.

As Fushi travels the world, he learns what it means to be human through his encounters with various people. The series explores profound themes of loss, growth, the meaning of existence, and the value of connections. However, Fushi’s journey is fraught with challenges, including battles against the Nokkers, mysterious beings that seek to hinder his growth, and the pain of losing those he loves.

What to Expect in Season 3

Season 3 promises to delve deeper into Fushi’s character as he navigates the complexities of modern society. With the Nokkers seemingly no longer a direct threat, Fushi must confront new challenges that come with technology, urban environments, and contemporary human interactions.

Key expectations for Season 3 include:

  • Fushi’s Adaptation: Watching Fushi adapt to modern life, learning about technology, and forming new relationships will be a central theme.
  • New Enemies: While the Nokkers may not be the primary antagonists, Fushi may encounter new adversaries or obstacles in this modern world.
  • Philosophical Exploration: The series will likely continue to explore deep philosophical questions about life, death, and the nature of humanity.
  • Emotional Moments: Fans can expect the emotional depth and poignant storytelling that have become hallmarks of “To Your Eternity.”

A Word from the Creator

Yoshitoki Oima, the original creator of “To Your Eternity,” has expressed her involvement and enthusiasm for the “Modern Arc.” Her message to the fans:

“To everyone who has followed the first and second seasons, thank you for waiting. For the ‘Modern Arc,’ I was involved more closely than ever before in my role as the original creator. I believe the entire series has been crafted with great care. Thank you to the director, staff, and cast. I’m really looking forward to the broadcast.”

Where to Watch

Both previous seasons of “To Your Eternity” are currently available for streaming on Crunchyroll, with English subtitles and dubs.
