The upcoming anime adaptation of Keiichirō Shibuya’s Introduction to Mineralogy manga, also known as Ruri no Hōseki or Ruri Rocks, has revealed exciting new details in a recently released promotional video. Fans can look forward to more staff announcements, a preview of the theme songs, and the confirmed premiere date of July 6, 2025. This “science adventure” slice-of-life comedy, produced by Studio Bind, promises to blend mineralogy lessons with a lighthearted romp through mountains, rivers, and caves.

Digging Deeper: What to Expect

While official streaming details are yet to be confirmed, Crunchyroll or Netflix are potential platforms, given Aniplex’s involvement.

The Story: Ruri’s Gemstone Journey

She meets Nagi Arato, a mineralogy graduate student, who introduces her to the world of mineral collecting. Armed with tools and maps, Ruri explores mountains, rivers, and caves, discovering quartz, garnet, pyrite, gold sand, and fluorite. The series blends education with comedy, showcasing “cute girls doing esoteric hobbies,” reminiscent of Amanchu! but with rocks instead of scuba gear.

Manga Origins

The anime is based on Keiichirō Shibuya’s manga, which began serialization in Enterbrain’s Harta magazine in August 2019. The manga concluded with its fifth volume in September 2024.

Studio Bind: The Animators
