Puniru is a Kawaii Slime is a romantic comedy manga series by Maedakun. The story revolves around Kotaro, a young boy who creates a slime that unexpectedly comes to life. He names her Puniru, and the two become best friends. As they grow up, Puniru gains the ability to shapeshift into a human girl, seeking Kotaro’s attention and affection, even though he harbors feelings for his high school senior, Mami Kirara.
Manga Origins
The manga began as a one-shot in Shogakukan’s Bessatsu CoroCoro Comic in February 2019 before being serialized on the Weekly CoroCoro Comic website in March 2022. As of February 2025, Shogakukan has collected the chapters into seven tankōbon volumes. The manga won the 70th Shogakukan Manga Award in 2025.
