The anime adaptation of Yakitomato and Kotatsu’s manga, I’m Living with an Otaku NEET Kunoichi!? (ニートくノ一となぜか同棲はじめました, Nīto Kunoichi to Nazeka Dōsei Hajimemashita, lit. ‘For Some Reason I Started Living with a NEET Kunoichi’), has officially announced its English dub cast, much to the delight of international fans. Here’s everything you need to know about the dub, the anime, and its quirky story.

A Synopsis of Otaku NEET Kunoichi

I’m Living with an Otaku NEET Kunoichi!? follows the story of Tsukasa Atsumi, an ordinary salaryman whose life takes a sharp turn when he is attacked by demons. Just as he faces imminent danger, a kunoichi (female ninja) named Shizuri Ideura swoops in to save him. Shizuri reveals that Tsukasa is from a warrior bloodline, making him a target for monstrous, invisible yoma.

To protect Tsukasa, Shizuri proposes a master-servant contract with a unique condition: she gets to live with him as a NEET (Not in Education, Employment, or Training), indulging in her otaku hobbies. Despite her exceptional ninja skills, Shizuri is a lazy otaku who spends most of her time playing video games and enjoying the comforts of home.

As they begin their cohabitation, Tsukasa finds himself pampering Shizuri, using his homemaking skills to cater to her NEET lifestyle while she diligently serves as his bodyguard. Their unusual living arrangement leads to a close bond, but things get even more chaotic when other kunoichi start appearing at Tsukasa’s doorstep, turning his home into a potential battle royale of the heart.

Reception and Reviews

I’m Living with an Otaku NEET Kunoichi!? has garnered mixed reviews since its premiere. Some viewers appreciate its gag-oriented humor and the unique premise of a kunoichi living as a NEET, while others find the series lacking in substance and character development.

One review noted that the anime has “a really heavy dose of old-school romcom corniness to it,” with character designs and sound effects reminiscent of early 2000s anime. While some found this nostalgic, others felt it made the series feel dated.

The fan service in the series, particularly the form-fitting outfits of the female characters, has also been a point of discussion. While there is no nudity, some lewd humor and potentially problematic elements, such as the character Momochi, have been criticized.

Where to Watch
