What is Strawberry Prince?
Strawberry Prince, also known as SutoPuri, is a Japanese boy band formed in June 2016. The group consists of six members:
- Nanamori
- Jel
- Satomi
- Colon
- Rinu
- Root
Each member is represented by an illustrated character when appearing in media. The group was founded by Nanamori, who gained popularity on Nico Nico Douga as an utaite. Strawberry Prince has become incredibly popular with videos on streaming sites, and have even inspired a smartphone game and performed on Japan’s most-watched music television program.
Jel’s central Role
Jel, a member of the VTuber boy band Strawberry Prince, is at the heart of this anime film. Not only does he voice himself and the main character Akane Toi, but he’s also deeply involved in the project’s creation. His contributions include planning, scriptwriting, storyboarding, and character design.
What is Toi-san About?
The Toi-san series began as a comedy short video series on Twitter/X in April 2019. It revolves around Akane Toi, a high school girl known as “Toi-san” by her classmates. Toi-san hopes for a normal high school life, but her expectations are quickly turned upside down when she meets the handsome Jel on her first day. Instead of a typical romance, she finds herself surrounded by wacky and eccentric classmates, turning every day into a series of comedic skits. In the film, Toi-san joins the mysterious “Youth Romance Club,” which seeks to uncover “youthful” and “romantic” experiences. The series has gained immense popularity, with over 1,000 videos and 10 billion views across YouTube, TikTok, and other platforms, and inspired an official English study book and novel.
