The highly anticipated anime film, Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid: A Lonely Dragon Wants to be Loved (also known as Kobayashi-san Chi no Maid Dragon: Samishigariya no Ryū), has recently revealed its non-credit opening sequence, additional cast members, and new visuals ahead of its Japanese premiere on June 27, 2025. Crunchyroll has secured the worldwide theatrical rights for the film, excluding Asia, and plans to screen it in North America with Japanese audio and English subtitles.
Non-Credit Opening and Theme Song
The non-credit opening for the film has been officially released, featuring the theme song “Namida no Parade” (Parade of Tears) performed by fhána. The sequence was made available on Kyoto Animation’s official YouTube channel. fhána has previously contributed to the music of the Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid anime series.
Expanded Cast and Familiar Voices
The film introduces several new voice actors while bringing back the beloved main cast. New additions include Fumihiko Tachiki as Kimun Kamui and Nobunaga Shimazaki as Azad. Shiori Sugiura takes over the role of Ilulu, replacing Tomomi Mineuchi. Additionally, Shinya Takahashi and Azusa Tadokoro lend their voices to fairies.

Production Details
The film is directed by Tatsuya Ishihara at Kyoto Animation, the same studio responsible for the previous seasons of the anime. The screenplay is handled by Yuka Yamada, and Miku Kadowaki serves as character designer and chief animation director. The movie’s plot centers on Kanna, whose peaceful life with Kobayashi and Tohru is disrupted by the arrival of her father, Kamun Kamui, the leader of the Chaos Forces, who demands her return to the Dragon World.
