The highly anticipated anime film “100 Meters” (Hyakuemu) has revealed an additional ten voice cast members, further solidifying its lineup ahead of its Japanese premiere on September 19, 2025. This expansion follows earlier announcements, bringing a diverse range of talent to the sports drama. GKIDS is set to bring the film to North American theaters in October.
The newly announced cast members and their roles include:
- Jun Kasama as Nigami, a former middle school track star and Togashi’s high school teammate.
- Rie Takahashi as Asakusa, a bright high school girl passionate about track who recruits Togashi to the school team.
- Yuki Tanaka as Shiina, a supportive team member who runs alongside Asakusa.
- Atsumi Tanezaki as Young Togashi, portraying the protagonist during his elementary school years.
- Aoi Yūki as Young Komiya, voicing the elementary school version of the other protagonist, who becomes fixated on the 100-meter sprint.
- Yuma Uchida as Kabanoki, a promising young runner expected to lead the future of track and field.
- Junya Enoki as Numano, a cheerful and friendly member of Komiya’s high school track team.
- Haruki Ishiya as Kyōden, the team captain who harbors secret fears about Komiya’s talent.
- Hiiro Ishibashi as Morikawa, an athlete who looks up to Togashi.
- Tomokazu Sugita as Onomichi, Nigami’s rival and longtime frenemy.
These actors join the previously announced main cast, which features Tori Matsuzaka as the naturally gifted runner Togashi, and Shota Sometani as Komiya, the determined transfer student whose encounter with Togashi sparks his obsession with the 100-meter dash. Kenjiro Tsuda and Koki Uchiyama were also previously confirmed as Kaido and Zaitsu, respectively.
The film held its world premiere at Annecy on June 12, 2025. “100 Meters” is directed by Kenji Iwaisawa at Studio Rock ‘n’ Roll Mountain. Keisuke Kojima serves as character designer and executive animation director, with Keikankun Yamaguchi as art director. Yasuyuki Mutō is writing the script, and Hiroaki Tsutsumi is composing the music. The movie is a co-production between Pony Canyon, TBS, and Asmik Ace.
The “100 Meters” anime film is an adaptation of Uoto’s original sports manga, which was serialized on Kodansha’s Magazine Pocket website and app from November 2018 to August 2019, comprising five volumes. The story delves into the intense world of track and field, exploring the passion and rivalries ignited by the pursuit of victory in the 100-meter sprint.
