The highly anticipated anime feature film 100 Meters (also known as Hyakuemu) has announced the addition of ten new voice cast members as it gears up for its nationwide release in Japan on September 19, 2025. This latest reveal significantly expands the roster of talent bringing Uoto’s sports manga to life. GKIDS is set to distribute the film in North American theaters in October.
Expanding the Ensemble
The newly unveiled cast members and their respective roles are:
- Jun Kasama as Nikami, a former middle school track star who becomes a teammate of the protagonist Togashi in high school.
- Rie Takahashi as Asakusa, a bright high school girl who is passionate about track and recruits Togashi to the school’s track team.
- Yuki Tanaka as Shiina, a supportive team member who runs alongside Asakusa.
- Atsumi Tanezaki as the young Togashi during his elementary school years.
- Aoi Yuki as the elementary school version of Komiya, the other protagonist, who becomes obsessed with the 100-meter sprint.
- Yuma Uchida as Kabaki, a promising young runner expected to lead the future of track and field.
- Junya Enoki as Numano, a cheerful and friendly member of Komiya’s high school track team.
- Haruki Ishiya as Kyoden, the team captain who secretly fears Komiya’s talent.
- Hiiro Ishibashi as Morikawa, a track athlete who idolizes Togashi.
- Tomokazu Sugita as Onomichi, Nigami’s rival and longtime frenemy.
These actors join the previously announced main cast, which includes Tori Matsuzaka as the gifted runner Togashi and Shota Sometani as Komiya. Additionally, Koki Uchiyama voices Zaitsu, described as the undisputed champion driving the world of athletics, and Kenjiro Tsuda plays Kaido, a runner who often falls short of Zaitsu.
Production Details
Directed by Kenji Iwaisawa, known for ON-GAKU: Our Sound, 100 Meters is being animated by Studio Rock ‘n’ Roll Mountain. The film is based on Uoto’s debut serialized manga, which ran digitally on Kodansha’s Magazine Pocket website and app from November 2018 to August 2019, concluding with five tankobon volumes. Yasuyuki Mutō is penning the script, while Keisuke Kojima handles character designs and serves as the executive animation director. Keikankun Yamaguchi is the art director, and Hiroaki Tsutsumi is composing the music. The film premiered globally at the Annecy International Film Festival on June 12.
The narrative of 100 Meters follows Togashi, a naturally gifted track star in the 100-meter race. His life changes in sixth grade when he encounters Komiya, a determined transfer student lacking technique. Togashi’s guidance instills in Komiya a new purpose: to win at all costs. Years later, they reunite as rivals on the track, revealing their true selves.
