The highly anticipated Silent Witch anime, based on Matsuri Isora and Nanna Fujimi’s light novel series, recently unveiled a three-minute preview of its first episode, along with details on a new cast member and its opening theme song. The series is set to premiere on July 4, 2025, and will be available for streaming on Crunchyroll worldwide.
First Look at the Opening Minutes
Aniplex released the initial three minutes of the first episode, offering fans a glimpse into the anime’s world and characters. The preview mainly features protagonist Monica Everett and Annie, with a surprise appearance from Louis. The episode synopsis reveals that Monica Everett, known as the “Silent Witch” and one of the Seven Sages, is an incredibly shy individual who lives secluded in the mountains. Her quiet life is interrupted when Louis Miller, a fellow Seven Sage and Barrier Magician, tasks her with secretly escorting the Second Prince, Felix Arc Ridill, at the prestigious Serendia Academy.
New Voice Actor Joins the Cast
Ai Kayano has been announced as a new cast member, lending her voice to the character Claudia, described as a “walking library”. This addition builds upon previously announced cast members, including Saya Aizawa as Monica Everett, Hitomi Nabatame as Nero, Junichi Suwabe as Louis Miller, Atsumi Tanezaki as Isabelle Norton, Shōgo Sakata as Felix Arc Ridill, Kanna Nakamura as Lana Colette, Yoshiki Nakajima as Cyril Ashley, Ryōhei Kimura as Elliott Howard, Yuki Sakakihara as Neil Clay Maywood, Yōko Hikasa as Bridget Greyham, M.A.O as Rynzbelfeid, and Hina Sugita as Casey Grove. Shunichi Toki is also cast as a mysterious unnamed character.
Opening Theme Song Details
The opening theme song for Silent Witch is titled “Feel” and is performed by the alternative rock band hitsujibungaku. The song is scheduled to begin streaming in Japan on July 4, 2025, coinciding with the anime’s premiere. Hitsujibungaku will also perform the ending theme song, “mild days”.
Production and Staff
The anime adaptation is being produced by Studio Gokumi. Takaomi Kanasaki is serving as chief director, screenwriter, and script supervisor, in addition to handling sound direction. Yasuo Iwamoto is directing the series. Cona Nitanda is responsible for character designs. Cygames and Rina Tayama are credited with composing the music. Other staff include Yoshinori Iwanaga (monster and prop design), Eri Yamanashi and Yukiko Maruyama (art directors), Saori Yoshida (color key artist), Kana Imagaki (3D CG director), Naoki Etō (compositing director of photography), and Kashiko Kimura (editor).
The Silent Witch light novel series, written by Matsuri Isora and illustrated by Nanna Fujimi, began as a web novel in February 2020 on the Shōsetsuka ni Narō website. Kadokawa started publishing the light novels in June 2021, with the ninth volume released in February 2025, and a tenth volume slated for summer. Yen Press has licensed the novels and releases them under the title Secrets of the Silent Witch. They describe the story of Monica Everett, the world’s only practitioner of Voiceless Magic, who is secretly super-duper shy and only learned silent magic to avoid public speaking, yet is tasked with a top-secret mission to guard the Second Prince.
