Aniplex has recently unveiled the initial three minutes of footage from the upcoming Silent Witch (also known as Secrets of the Silent Witch: Chinmoku no Majo no Kakushigoto) anime adaptation. This preview, alongside a new special visual, introduces an additional cast member and provides details about the opening theme song for the series, based on Matsuri Isora and Nanna Fujimi’s light novel series. The anime is set to premiere on July 4, 2025, in Japan, with Crunchyroll simulcasting the series as part of its summer 2025 lineup.

First Look at the Anime

The released three-minute preview offers a glimpse into the anime’s inaugural episode, primarily featuring protagonist Monica Everett and another character, Annie, along with a surprise appearance from Louis. The preview aims to set the tone and introduce viewers to the world of Silent Witch before its full broadcast.

New Cast Member Introduced

Voice actress Ai Kayano has joined the cast to portray Claudia, a second-year Serendia Academy student known as a “walking library.” Claudia’s family is noted for their intellect and is considered a national treasure. This announcement was part of a livestream event by Aniplex that provided a comprehensive update on the anime. Other previously announced cast members include Saya Aizawa as the protagonist Monica Everett, Hitomi Nabatame as Nero, Junichi Suwabe as Louis Miller, Atsumi Tanezaki as Isabelle Norton, Shōgo Sakata as Felix Arc Ridill, Kanna Nakamura as Lana Colette, Yoshiki Nakajima as Cyril Ashley, Ryōhei Kimura as Elliott Howard, Yuki Sakakihara as Neil Clay Maywood, and Yōko Hikasa as Bridget Greyham. M.A.O. will voice Rynzbelfeid, Louis’s familiar spirit.

Opening Theme Song Details

The alternative rock band Hitsujibungaku is performing the anime’s opening theme song, titled “Feel.” The song is slated to begin streaming in Japan on July 4. Hitsujibungaku will also perform the ending theme song, “mild days.”

Production and Story Overview

The Silent Witch anime is being produced by Studio Gokumi, with Yasuo Iwamoto directing and Takaomi Kanasaki serving as chief director and handling series composition and scripts. Cona Nitanda is responsible for character designs, while Cygames and Rina Tayama are composing the music.

The series follows Monica Everett, known as the “Silent Witch,” a powerful magic-user who single-handedly defeated a legendary black dragon. Despite her formidable abilities, Monica is extremely shy and developed “Voiceless Magic” to avoid public speaking. Unaware of her social anxiety, the Seven Sages assign her a top-secret mission to secretly guard the Second Prince, Felix Arc Ridill, who attends Serendia Academy. Yen Press has licensed the light novels and manga adaptation in English under the title Secrets of the Silent Witch.
