The Monogatari Series: Off & Monster Season anime has officially announced the production of a “new episode,” accompanied by a teaser visual and a promotional video. This announcement was made on July 3, 2025.
While the term “new episode” might typically suggest a single installment, within the context of the Monogatari franchise, this phrasing has historically referred to a new story arc or novel adaptation, which could encompass multiple episodes or even films. The recent season of Monogatari: Off & Monster Season previously aired for 14 episodes from July to October 2024, adapting the Orokamonogatari, Nademonogatari, Wazamonogatari, and Shinobumonogatari arcs.
The core creative team behind the series remains consistent, with Akiyuki Shinbo serving as Chief Director, Midori Yoshizawa as Director, and SHAFT as the animation studio. Other key staff members include Akiyuki Shinbo and Tou Fuyashi for series composition, Akio Watanabe for character design and chief animation direction, and Kei Haneoka, Satoru Kosaki, and Yuria Miyazono for music.
In addition to the anime news, a new novel in the Monogatari series, titled Tsugimonogatari (接物語), written by Nisio Isin, is set to be released in October 2025. The Monogatari series is based on Nisio Isin’s light novels, which have been serialized by Kodansha since 2006. Crunchyroll currently streams the anime. The story continues to follow the journey of the girls Koyomi Araragi has encountered and saved, exploring their ongoing struggles and supernatural encounters beyond Araragi’s high school graduation.
