The popular anime spin-off series, My Hero Academia: Vigilantes, is officially set to return for a second season in 2026. The announcement was made by TOHO animation and the anime’s official accounts following the broadcast of the 13th episode, which concluded the first season. Crunchyroll has confirmed that it will stream the new season globally, excluding Asia, upon its premiere next year.
The first season of My Hero Academia: Vigilantes premiered in April 2025, with Bones Film, a newly established company by Studio Bones, handling the animation production. The series is based on the manga written by Hideyuki Furuhashi and illustrated by Betten Court, serving as a prequel and spin-off to Kohei Horikoshi’s acclaimed My Hero Academia manga. The Vigilantes manga ran from August 2016 to May 2022, concluding with 15 compiled volumes.
The anime delves into the lives of individuals who operate outside the official hero system. It follows Koichi Haimawari, a college student who, despite not being an official hero, uses his modest Quirk for good deeds. His journey takes a significant turn when he encounters the vigilante Knuckleduster and teams up with him and Pop Step to become “Vigilantes.”
Key staff from the first season are expected to return for the second, including Kenichi Suzuki as the director, Yosuke Kuroda overseeing the series scripts, Takahiko Yoshida on character designs, and Yuki Hayashi, Shogo Yamashiro, and Yuki Furuhashi composing the music. The returning voice cast from the main My Hero Academia series includes Kenta Miyake as Toshinori Yagi/All Might, Junichi Suwabe as Shota Aizawa/Eraser Head, and Hiroyuki Yoshino as Hizashi Yamada/Present Mic.
Fans can anticipate more action and character development as the series continues to explore the lesser-seen side of the My Hero Academia universe in its upcoming 2026 season.
