The upcoming TV anime adaptation of Tsuyoshi Takaki’s Black Torch manga has officially unveiled its main cast. The supernatural action series, which was first announced in March, will feature a talented lineup of voice actors bringing its characters to life.
The Main Cast and Their Roles
The core cast members for the Black Torch anime are as follows:
Ryōta Suzuki as Jiro Azuma
Ryōta Suzuki will voice Jiro Azuma, a high schooler descended from a long line of shinobi who possesses the unique ability to communicate with animals. His compassionate nature, particularly towards animals, leads him into a dangerous encounter that grants him exceptional power.
Yōji Ueda as Rago
The legendary mononoke, Rago, once feared as the “Black Calamity Star,” will be voiced by Yōji Ueda. Rago’s unexpected fusion with Jiro thrusts them both into a hidden war against powerful spirits.
Sayaka Senbongi as Ichika Kishimojin
Sayaka Senbongi takes on the role of Ichika Kishimojin, a serious and justice-driven agent of the “Black Torch” special unit within the Bureau of Espionage.
Junya Enoki as Reiji Kirihara
Rounding out the main cast is Junya Enoki as Reiji Kirihara, a calm and logical new recruit who often finds himself at odds with Jiro.
Production Team and Manga Background
The Black Torch anime is being directed by Kei Umabiki at 100studio. Gigaemon Ichikawa is responsible for the series scripts and composition, while Gō Suzuki is handling the character designs, and Yutaka Yamada is composing the music.
The original Black Torch manga, created by Tsuyoshi Takaki, was serialized in Shueisha’s Jump Square magazine and later on Shonen Jump+. Viz Media publishes the manga in English and describes the story as Jiro Azuma, a descendant of shinobi who can talk to animals, getting into trouble when a suspicious stray cat fuses with him, granting him power but also drawing him into humanity’s battle against menacing spirits.
