Crunchyroll has officially announced that it will stream the highly anticipated third season of the popular anime series, One-Punch Man, across Europe and the Middle East. The announcement confirms that fans in these regions will be able to follow Saitama’s latest exploits when the new season premieres in October 2025.
The Return of a Global Phenomenon
One-Punch Man, based on the original webcomic by ONE and the subsequent manga adaptation by Yusuke Murata, has captivated audiences worldwide with its unique blend of action, comedy, and satirical take on the superhero genre. The series follows Saitama, a hero who can defeat any opponent with a single punch, leading to an existential crisis of unparalleled boredom. His journey, alongside his cyborg disciple Genos, through the Hero Association and encounters with increasingly absurd and powerful “Mysterious Beings,” forms the core of its appeal.
The first season, animated by Madhouse, premiered in 2015 and garnered widespread critical acclaim for its stunning animation and dynamic fight sequences. The second season, which aired in 2019 and was produced by J.C. Staff, continued the narrative, with Crunchyroll previously streaming the series in Europe (excluding French and German-speaking Europe) and the Middle East and North Africa.
Season 3: What to Expect
The third season is slated to premiere in October 2025, a significant return after a six-year hiatus since the second season. J.C. Staff, the studio behind the second season, is returning to animate the third installment. Key staff members are also returning, including Tomohiro Suzuki for series composition, Chikashi Kubota, Shinjiro Kuroda, and Ryosuke Shirokawa as character designers, and Makoto Miyazaki composing the music.
The upcoming season is expected to delve deeply into the Monster Association arc, pitting the S-class heroes against formidable new threats, including characters like President Ugly, Homeless Emperor, and Black Sperm. Saitama is also set to face the menacing Garou, who has awakened within the Monster Association hideout following his prior confrontations with the heroes. Producer Atsushi Fujishiro of J.C. Staff has expressed the studio’s commitment to delivering a high-quality season that lives up to fan expectations, especially given the high bar set by the first season.
Returning Japanese voice cast members include Makoto Furukawa as Saitama, Kaito Ishikawa as Genos, Aoi Yuki as Terrible Tornado, and many others, promising consistency in character portrayal.
Crunchyroll’s Expanding Reach
This acquisition further solidifies Crunchyroll’s position as a leading global distributor of anime. The platform, a joint venture between Sony Pictures Entertainment and Aniplex (a subsidiary of Sony Music Entertainment Japan), provides access to a vast library of licensed anime across over 200 countries and territories. Beyond streaming, Crunchyroll actively engages with its community through events, theatrical releases, games, and merchandise, enhancing the overall anime experience for fans worldwide.
The decision to stream One-Punch Man Season 3 specifically in Europe and the Middle East underscores the growing popularity of anime in these regions and Crunchyroll’s strategy to cater to its diverse international audience. While Viz Media holds rights for North America, Latin America, and Oceania, Crunchyroll’s announcement ensures broad accessibility for fans eagerly awaiting Saitama’s next adventure. The anticipation for One-Punch Man Season 3 remains high, with fans looking forward to more overpowered action and satirical heroics.
