Wright Film has officially unveiled additional cast members, production staff, and the opening theme song for the upcoming original anime film The Last Blossom (Housenka) through its latest trailer video. The film is set to premiere in Japan on October 10.
New Cast Announcements
The trailer introduced several new voice actors joining the previously announced cast. Hideaki Murata, from the comedy duo Toro Salmon, will voice Hayashida, a henchman to Akutsu. Hiroki Yasumoto joins as Tsutsumi, Akutsu’s “big brother” within the yakuza group. Sōma Saitō is cast as Wakamatsu, Akutsu’s junior, and Kōta Nakayama will play Konishi, another of Akutsu’s henchmen.
These new additions join the already revealed main cast, which includes Kaoru Kobayashi portraying the present-day Akutsu and Junki Tozuka as the past Akutsu. Hikari Mitsushima and Yoshiko Miyazaki voice Nana Nagata, Akutsu’s partner, at different points in her life. Pierre Taki provides the voice for the enigmatic talking Housenka (balsam) flower.
Revealed Staff Members
The newly announced staff members include a comprehensive list of animation and production roles. Baku Kinoshita and Nana Harada are credited for production. Eiji Tera serves as the Layout Animation Director, with Yuji Hosogoe, Kazuya Miyoshi, and Shuichi Shimamura as Animation Directors. Haruko Nobori is in charge of Color Design, and Honoka Satō is the Art Director. Kou Hoshina and Takahiro Hondai are the Compositing Directors of Photography. Yoshiki Ushiroda handles the editing, while Kōji Kasamatsu is the Sound Director and Yōji Shimizu is the Recording Director. Kinue Itou and Ryoichiro Matsuo are listed as Production Producers, with Miracle Voice managing publicity and Pony Canyon handling distribution.
Baku Kinoshita, known for his work on Odd Taxi, directs the film, with Kazuya Konomoto credited for the script and original concept. CLAP, the studio behind Pompo: The Cinéphile and The Tunnel to Summer, the Exit of Goodbyes, is responsible for the animation production. Michinoku Toge is credited for concept art.
Opening Theme Song
The trailer also revealed and previewed the opening theme song for The Last Blossom, titled “Moving Still Life,” performed by the band cero. The band cero is also composing the overall film’s music.
