The upcoming “Redmond College Arc” of the Anne Shirley anime, based on Lucy Maud Montgomery’s classic Anne of Green Gables novel series, has announced two new cast members set to join on July 19.
Chika Anzai will voice Philippa Gordon, who is Anne’s classmate and friend at Redmond College. Tokuyoshi Kawashima will also be joining the cast in an as-yet unrevealed role.
The Anne Shirley anime series, produced by The Answer Studio and directed by Hiroshi Kawamata, premiered in April 2025. It is scheduled to run for 24 episodes and is streaming on Crunchyroll. The anime aims to portray Anne’s growth from a young girl into a mature woman, highlighting her relationships with Matthew and Marilla Cuthbert, her enduring friendship with Diana Barry, and her developing romance with Gilbert Blythe. The series adapts material from three of Montgomery’s novels: Anne of Green Gables, Anne of Avonlea, and Anne of the Island. The Redmond College arc will delve into Anne’s experiences as she attends college after winning the Avery scholarship.
