The highly anticipated new television anime in the Digimon franchise, titled Digimon Beatbreak, has announced its primary voice cast, with Miyu Irino and Megumi Han taking on the lead roles. The series is slated to premiere in October 2025.
Miyu Irino, a veteran voice actor known for roles such as Sora in the Kingdom Hearts video game series and Haku in Spirited Away, will portray the protagonist, a 15-year-old high school student named Tomorō Tenma. Irino has expressed that Digimon was a significant part of his childhood and hopes that current generations will experience the same excitement he did.
Joining him is Megumi Han, who will lend her voice to Tomorō’s partner Digimon, Gekkomon. Han, whose notable roles include Gon Freecss in Hunter × Hunter and Akko Kagari in Little Witch Academia, has a long-standing connection to the Digimon franchise, having voiced characters like Takeru in various Digimon Adventure content and Nokia in Cyber Sleuth. She shared that she has long wished to be a “Chosen Child” and that Digimon continues to inspire her. Gekkomon is classified as a reptile-type, Data-species Digimon in its growth stage.
Digimon Beatbreak is being produced by Toei Animation and marks the latest addition to the long-running Digimon anime franchise, which began with Digimon Adventure in 1999. The announcement of the lead cast members was made via the anime’s official X/Twitter account. While initial teasers provided little more than a tagline about “Emotion-devouring Digital Lifeforms” and a glimpse of the main character and partner Digimon silhouettes, the latest revelations confirm key roles and a premiere window. The series promises a fresh take on the digital world, potentially intertwining music with digital battles, and is expected to unveil more details about its plot and production staff closer to its broadcast date.
