Kadokawa has announced the English publication of three new manga titles: The Killer Cutie Next Door, Flirting with a Faux Tyrant in the Entertainment Biz, and From Bullied to Brawler: My After-Hours Education with the School’s Tough Girls. These releases are set to begin in July on the BookWalker Global site and other digital storefronts.
The Killer Cutie Next Door
Jay Kato’s The Killer Cutie Next Door (original title: Tonari no Koroshiya-chan) manga will be available in chapter format on BookWalker Global starting July 12. The story follows Ako Yamada, a former member of the assassin organization “Orochi,” as she attempts to live a peaceful life working at a bakery. However, her past as a cold-blooded hitman makes adapting to normal life a struggle, especially when urban legend enthusiast Nono Morino, who suspects a hitman lives nearby, visits the bakery. Adding to her woes, members of her former organization are also after her. The series originally launched on Kadokawa’s Young Ace magazine and Comic Walker platform in January 2024.
Flirting with a Faux Tyrant in the Entertainment Biz
Takarano Island’s Flirting with a Faux Tyrant in the Entertainment Biz (original title: Bijinesu Boukun to Mezasu Happiiendo) manga is scheduled to launch exclusively on BookWalker Global in chapter format on July 18, with other stores to follow. The initial four chapters will be available for free for the first three months. This manga tells the story of Misora Kikuna, a 30-year-old office worker and producer of the otome game “Nanairo no Tsuki” (Seven-Colored Moon). After a fatal car accident involving an idol group, Misora finds herself reincarnated into the world of “Nanairo no Tsuki” as its protagonist, while a popular idol from the group is reincarnated as a prince. The series began on the Comic Walker platform and Nico Nico Seiga in January 2024.
From Bullied to Brawler: My After-Hours Education with the School’s Tough Girls
Aitsu and Takao Aoyagi’s From Bullied to Brawler: My After-Hours Education with the School’s Tough Girls (original title: Hōkago wa Kenka Saikyō no Gyaru ni Tsurekomareru Seikatsu) will also be released in chapter format on BookWalker Global, with releases beginning on Monday. The manga centers on Shiki, a shy and studious high school student at the notoriously bad St. Lukeman’s Academy, who becomes a target for delinquents. After being beaten by a group, he is saved by Karin, the school’s “Empress” and strongest girl, whom he had previously helped. Karin then offers to teach Shiki how to fight in exchange for him teaching her how to study, leading to Shiki’s gradual increase in strength. Aitsu originally launched the series as a web novel in October 2022, with Aoyagi’s manga adaptation beginning in Fujimi Shobo’s Dragon Age magazine in February 2024.
These direct digital releases are part of Kadokawa’s ongoing strategy to provide English-speaking readers with quicker access to their manga and light novel titles, often in a “simulpub” format where chapters are released concurrently with their Japanese counterparts. This initiative aims to combat piracy and support creators by offering official translations directly to a global audience.
