The manga adaptation of Saki Ichibu’s popular light novel series, Formerly, the Fallen Daughter of the Duke, has officially gone on hiatus. The interruption in serialization is due to the manga creator, Ushio Shirotori, requiring time to recover following the birth of her second child.
Shirotori announced the hiatus on her X/Twitter account, indicating that she anticipates being fully recovered by winter. Fans can expect the series to resume once the artist has regained her health.
The manga, titled Moto, Ochikobore Kōshaku Reijō desu. The Comic in Japanese, first launched on Mag Garden’s Mag Comi website in September 2020. The series quickly gained popularity for its captivating narrative, which follows Claire Martino, a noblewoman who, after a sudden annulment of her engagement and being branded a villainess, embarks on a journey of self-discovery. This journey is further complicated by her realization that her life mirrors the challenging “hardest route” of an otome game.
Prior to this current break, the manga had experienced sporadic delays, sometimes due to the author’s health, though a long wait does not always signify a hiatus or cancellation. Tokyopop publishes the manga in English, with the sixth compiled volume released on June 10, and Mag Garden published the seventh volume in Japan on April 15.
