The manga adaptation of Saki Ichibu’s light novel series, Formerly, the Fallen Daughter of the Duke, has entered a hiatus. The series’ creator, Ushio Shirotori, announced that the pause is due to her recovery following the birth of her second child. Shirotori anticipates a return to serialization by winter.
The manga, known in Japanese as Moto, Ochikobore Kōshaku Reijō Desu. The Comic, launched on Mag Garden’s Mag Comi website in September 2020. Tokyopop publishes the manga in English, with the sixth volume released on June 10. The most recent Japanese compiled book volume, the seventh, was published on April 15.
Background of the Series
Formerly, the Fallen Daughter of the Duke tells the story of Claire Martino, who once possessed a loving family, a fiancé in the crown prince, and a promising future enhanced by her family’s inherited magic. However, she loses everything in an instant, with her own half-sister implicated as the cause. Disgraced and scorned as a villainess, Claire embarks on a journey of self-discovery. The narrative incorporates elements of an otome game titled NEW START ♡ ETERNAL LOVE, specifically its hardest route, leading Claire to question the reality of her experiences.
The original light novel series by Saki Ichibu began serialization on Shōsetsuka ni Narō in March 2020, concluding in May 2020. Mag Garden published the first print volume of the novel with illustrations by Nemusuke in December 2020, and the fifth volume shipped in June 2024. J-Novel Club is responsible for the English release of the light novels.
