The upcoming two-part theatrical anime compilation films for Girls Band Cry have released a new main trailer and key visual for the first film, “Seishun Kyoso Kyoko”. The first film is set to premiere in Japan on October 3, 2025, while the second film, “Naa, Mirai.”, will follow on November 14, 2025.
These compilation films are based on the Girls Band Cry anime series, which originally aired for 13 episodes from April to June 2024. Crunchyroll currently streams the original Girls Band Cry series in select English-speaking countries and territories.
The Girls Band Cry project centers on high school dropout Nina Iseri, who moves to Tokyo and, after a challenging start, meets guitarist Momoka Kawaragi. Together, they form a band with three other girls, navigating their individual struggles through their shared passion for music. The anime is part of a broader multimedia project that includes animated music videos, singles, live performances, and merchandise.
Kazuo Sakai is directing the compilation films, with Jukki Hanada handling the series composition and screenplay, and Nari Teshima as the character designer. The main voice cast, including Rina as Nina Iseri, Yuri as Momoka Kawaragi, Mirei as Subaru Awa, Natsu as Tomo Ebizuka, and Syuri as Rupa, will be reprising their roles. The animation is produced by Toei Animation.
