A new main trailer for Kaiju No. 8 Season 2, titled “The Will Lives On,” has been released, providing fans with a fresh look at the upcoming season and revealing additional cast members and the ending theme song. The highly anticipated second season is slated to premiere on July 19, with global streaming available on Crunchyroll and X (formerly Twitter), and on Netflix in select Asian regions.
The trailer highlights the return of American band OneRepublic, who will perform the ending theme song “Beautiful Colors.” This marks OneRepublic’s continued involvement with the Kaiju No. 8 anime, as they also provided the ending theme for the first season and the special “Hoshina’s Day Off” episode. “Beautiful Colors” is also set to be the inaugural single from the band’s forthcoming seventh studio album, with a release date of July 25.
Beyond the musical reveal, the new trailer also unveiled several additions to the voice cast, expanding the roster of characters for the second season. Hiroki Yasumoto joins as the voice of First Division Vice-Captain Eiji Hasegawa, and Kana Hanazawa takes on the role of Rin Shinonome. Furthermore, Kotono Mitsuishi has been announced as the voice of Hikari Shinomiya. Koki Uchiyama is set to have a significant role in the second season as Gen Narumi, a character whose visual was previously revealed in a teaser trailer back in March 2025.
Production I.G is once again handling the animation for the series, with Studio Khara overseeing the intricate creature designs. The new season is expected to pick up directly after the events of the first season finale, delving into more intense battles and character development as Kafka Hibino continues to navigate his unique abilities. Ahead of the season premiere, an original side story episode titled “Hoshina’s Day Off” aired on July 5.
