Adult Swim’s Toonami programming block has officially announced the addition of the highly anticipated Dan Da Dan anime to its lineup, with the premiere set for July 26, 2025, at 12:30 a.m. EDT (effectively July 27). The series, known for its unique blend of paranormal mystery, battle, and romantic comedy, will join a robust schedule that includes Dragon Ball Daima and Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War.
A Supernatural Ride on Toonami
Dan Da Dan centers on Momo Ayase, a high school girl from a family of spirit mediums who believes in ghosts but not aliens, and her classmate Ken Takakura, nicknamed “Okarun,” an occult fanatic who believes in aliens but denies ghosts exist. Their conflicting beliefs lead them to a bet: Momo investigates an abandoned hospital where a UFO has been spotted, while Okarun explores a tunnel rumored to be haunted. To their astonishment, both encounter overwhelming paranormal activities that transcend comprehension. Amid these predicaments, Momo awakens a hidden power, and Okarun gains the power of a curse, setting the stage for an occult battle, adolescence, and a fateful love story.
The anime adaptation is produced by Science SARU, with Fūga Yamashiro directing the series and Hiroshi Seko handling the scripts. Naoyuki Onda is responsible for character designs, while Yoshimichi Kameda designed the alien and supernatural entities. Kensuke Ushio composed the music.
