About “Dan Da Dan”
“Dan Da Dan” tells the story of Momo, a high school girl from a family of spirit mediums, and her classmate Okarun, an ardent occult enthusiast. Their unlikely bond forms after Momo rescues Okarun from bullies, leading to a humorous debate about their differing beliefs: Momo believes in ghosts but not aliens, while Okarun believes in aliens but dismisses ghosts.
To prove their points, they venture into reportedly haunted and UFO-sighted locations, respectively. To their astonishment, both encounter overwhelming paranormal activity. Amidst these bizarre predicaments, Momo awakens a hidden power, and Okarun gains the power of a curse, enabling them to confront these new dangers together. The narrative weaves a compelling blend of occult battles, supernatural phenomena, and emerging romance.
The anime’s first season premiered in Japan on October 3, 2024, on TBS and MBS. Netflix began streaming the anime worldwide on the same day, with Crunchyroll also providing streaming services for the first season. The second season of “Dan Da Dan” debuted on July 3, 2025, in Japan, and is also being streamed by Crunchyroll as it airs. The manga, created by Yukinobu Tatsu, is serialized on Shueisha’s Shonen Jump+ service, with Viz Media publishing the English version.
