Aniplex, in collaboration with A-1 Pictures and its newly established internal label Psyde Kick Studio, has officially announced an original anime project titled Grow Up Show: Himawari no Circus-dan (Grow Up Show: The Sunflower Circus Troupe). The series is slated to debut in 2026. This marks the first major project to feature Psyde Kick Studio under its credits.
The Creative Team Behind ‘Grow Up Show’
The production brings together a notable creative team. Kanta Kamei, known for his directorial work on Saekano: How to Raise a Boring Girlfriend, is helming the project as director. The original character designs are being provided by Kurehito Misaki, the illustrator for the Saekano light novels. Takeshi Kikuchi, whose previous work includes Skeleton Knight in Another World, is handling the series composition and scriptwriting for Grow Up Show.
Psyde Kick Studio: A New Creative Outlet
Psyde Kick Studio was recently launched by A-1 Pictures as an internal animation label. Its formation was announced with the aim of pursuing “freer and more original expression,” building upon A-1 Pictures’ extensive production knowledge and expertise. The studio intends to embark on multiple new projects, focusing on challenging initiatives for young creators and developing innovative planning and production workflows. The name “Psyde Kick” itself is a blend of “sidekick” with “psycho” and “psychedelic,” reflecting a concept of collaboration, experimental spirit, and a desire for free and individualistic creative endeavors.
The announcement for Grow Up Show was made on July 14, 2025, a date celebrated in Japan as “Sunflower Day.” A teaser visual featuring a female character with a circus hat was released alongside the announcement, hinting at a circus theme for the anime. Further details, including story specifics and cast information, are expected to be revealed at a later date.
