HERO, the acclaimed creator behind the popular romance manga Horimiya, is set to launch a new series titled Koe no Furu Heya (The Room of Fallen Voices) later this month. The announcement was made in this year’s 34th issue of Shogakukan’s Weekly Big Comic Spirits magazine.
The highly anticipated new series will debut on July 28 and will feature art by Takahashi Tsutsuji.
Delving into Koe no Furu Heya‘s Premise
Koe no Furu Heya promises a shift from the romantic comedy fans associate with Horimiya. The story will center on an illustrator who receives an unexpected message from an old high school classmate regarding a stalker. This intriguing setup suggests a more suspenseful or mystery-driven narrative, showcasing HERO’s versatility as a storyteller.
HERO’s Recent Works and Horimiya‘s Legacy
Before embarking on Koe no Furu Heya, HERO collaborated with Imaru Adachi on a three-chapter one-shot manga titled Terasu Hikari wa Ani no Omokage (The Light that Shines on Me is My Brother’s Face), which was serialized in Weekly Big Comic Spirits in June 2024.
HERO is best known for the original web manga Hori-san to Miyamura-kun, which served as the basis for the widely popular Horimiya manga adaptation drawn by Daisuke Hagiwara. Horimiya concluded its serialization in Monthly G Fantasy in March 2021, with its 17th and final compiled volume published in July 2023 in Japan and October 2024 in English. The series garnered significant popularity, inspiring a successful television anime adaptation that premiered in February 2021, followed by Horimiya: The Missing Pieces in July 2023. The enduring appeal of Horimiya even saw new chapters and content released in its 17th volume, including a brand new story by HERO, titled “A Piece of Memories,” in July 2023.
The launch of Koe no Furu Heya marks an exciting new chapter for HERO, offering fans a fresh narrative direction while building on the strong foundation of their previous successes.
