Ikebukuro, Japan – Manga Planet has announced the acquisition of licenses for the print editions of two Boys’ Love (BL) manga titles: Mayo Tsurukame’s Perfect Propose and echo’s Try & I Love You. These titles, previously available digitally on Manga Planet’s online platform, will now be released under their BL-exclusive futekiya imprint, bringing them to English-reading audiences in physical format.
Expanding the futekiya Print Catalog
Manga Planet, which merged its futekiya Library (BL subscription service) and Manga Planet Library (multi-genre) into a single Manga Planet platform in April 2023, continues to expand its print offerings. The addition of Perfect Propose and Try & I Love You signifies their ongoing commitment to providing diverse BL content in various formats. The company aims to bridge the gap between international manga fans and the Japanese manga industry by offering affordable access to officially licensed English-language manga.
About “Perfect Propose”
Perfect Propose by Mayo Tsurukame is a love story that revolves around childhood friends who reconnect in adulthood. The narrative follows Hiro, who is overworked and stressed, leading him to collapse on the sidewalk. He is then approached by Kai Fukaya, an unfamiliar face who claims they once promised to marry each other, and insists on becoming Hiro’s fiancé. The series gained recognition by placing 15th in Chil Chil’s 2021 BL Awards for “Best Comic” and was adapted into a live-action series in 2024.
About “Try & I Love You”
Penned by echo, Try & I Love You explores the romantic relationship between childhood friends who become adult roommates. Author echo was previously recognized in Chil Chil’s 2020 BL Awards, where they placed 20th for “Best Up-and-Coming BL”. Both Try & I Love You and Perfect Propose were initially released digitally on Manga Planet’s platform before their upcoming print release.
