Anime fans can look forward to a special treat this August as TMS Entertainment continues its “Detective Conan: Cinema Saturdays” campaign, bringing a selection of popular Detective Conan films to its “Anime! on TMS” YouTube channel. The lineup includes Detective Conan: The Raven Chaser, which kicks off the August streaming schedule.
“Cinema Saturdays” Campaign Highlights
The “Detective Conan: Cinema Saturdays” initiative is a special effort for North American fans, offering free streaming of Detective Conan theatrical films. The films are released weekly and remain available for seven days before a new movie takes its place. This marks the first time many Detective Conan movies are available on YouTube in English.
August Streaming Schedule
Four Detective Conan films are slated to stream on consecutive Saturdays in August, each premiering at 10:00 p.m. EDT:
- August 2: Detective Conan: The Raven Chaser
- August 9: Detective Conan: Sunflowers of Inferno
- August 16: Detective Conan: Dimensional Sniper
- August 23: Detective Conan: The Scarlet Bullet
Recent Detective Conan Streaming Additions
Prior to the August lineup, TMS Entertainment’s “Anime! on TMS” YouTube channel also streamed several other Detective Conan movies in July. These included the 20th movie, Detective Conan: The Darkest Nightmare, on July 12, followed by the 22nd movie, Detective Conan: Zero the Enforcer, on July 19, and the fifth movie, Detective Conan: Countdown to Heaven, on July 26. Notably, The Darkest Nightmare and Zero the Enforcer feature a new English dub, while Countdown to Heaven was originally released with an English dub by Funimation in 2010.
In addition to the film campaign, TMS Entertainment also began streaming a specially curated selection of Detective Conan anime episodes on Crunchyroll and Netflix starting July 3. This selection, titled “Conan vs. The Black Organization,” includes episodes featuring the titular antagonists, some of which were previously unavailable in the U.S. These episodes are available in both Japanese with English subtitles and with an all-new English dub.
About Detective Conan: The Raven Chaser
Detective Conan: The Raven Chaser (also known as Case Closed: The Raven Chaser) is the thirteenth film in the Case Closed manga and anime franchise. Released in Japan on April 18, 2009, the film centers on Conan Edogawa’s investigation into a series of murders that appear to be linked to the Black Organization, the mysterious group responsible for shrinking him into a child. The plot intensifies when a new member of the Black Organization discovers Shinichi Kudo’s transformation into Conan, endangering those around him as Gin and other members of the organization take action.
The film earned 3.9 billion yen at the domestic Japanese box office, becoming the highest-grossing Case Closed film at the time of its release. The movie features the voices of Minami Takayama as Conan Edogawa and Kappei Yamaguchi as Shinichi Kudo, among other recurring cast members.
The Enduring Popularity of Detective Conan
Detective Conan (known as Case Closed in some regions) remains one of Japan’s most iconic anime franchises, nearing its 30th anniversary in January 2026. The ongoing popularity of the series has led to continued releases, including the recent U.S. premiere of Detective Conan: Black Iron Submarine, the 26th film in the franchise, at Anime Expo on July 5. The 27th film, Detective Conan: The Million-Dollar Pentagram, is also set to release in cinemas in late August 2024 in some regions.
