Crunchyroll has announced the acquisition of eight new anime titles, including “This Monster Wants to Eat Me” and “My Status as an Assassin Obviously Exceeds the Hero’s,” expanding its streaming catalog for late 2025 and 2026. The announcement was made at the ANImagic 2025 event in Germany on Saturday. These new additions span various genres, from dark fantasy and romantic comedy to sci-fi and isekai.

Several of the newly announced series are set to premiere in October 2025.
My Status as an Assassin Obviously Exceeds the Hero’s
This isekai fantasy series, animated by Sunrise, will be available worldwide outside of Asia. The story follows Akira Oda, a high school student summoned to another world who gains the abilities of a “mediocre assassin.” However, his status quickly surpasses that of a “hero.” When Akira suspects the king who summoned him, he is framed for a crime and forced to flee. The anime’s official website opened in February 2025, revealing a teaser trailer and visual. Takeo Otsuka voices Akira Oda, and Saku Mizuno is cast as Amelia Rosequartz.
This Monster Wants to Eat Me
Produced by Studio LINGS, “This Monster Wants to Eat Me” is a yuri horror series also slated for an October 2025 release. The anime follows Hinako, a girl with a tragic past living by the sea, who encounters a mermaid named Shiori. Shiori declares her intention to eat Hinako, whose flesh is exceptionally appealing to yōkai, but vows to protect her from other monsters until Hinako reaches her “most perfect state.” The series is based on the manga by Sai Naekawa. Reina Ueda voices Hinako Yaotose, and Yui Ishikawa voices Shiori Oumi.

October 2025 Releases
- The Warrior Princess and the Barbaric King: Also known as The Barbarian’s Bride, this dark fantasy romantic comedy is produced by Jumondo.
- Mechanical Marie: This series is a collaboration between Studio Zero-G and Liber and will be available worldwide, including India and the Indian subcontinent.
- Plus-sized Misadventures in Love!: From Studio Marvy Jack, this romantic comedy will be available in most regions, with some exclusions in East Asia.
Coming Soon Titles (2025-2026)
- Alma-chan Wants to Be a Family!: This series from Studio Flad is expected in 2025.
- The Invisible Man and His Soon-to-Be Wife: Produced by project No.9, this title is anticipated in 2026.
- ROLL OVER AND DIE: From Studio A.C.G.T, this series is also set for release in 2026 and will include India and the Indian subcontinent in its availability.
These new licenses continue to build on Crunchyroll’s already extensive catalog, which includes popular ongoing and returning series from the Summer 2025 season such as Gachiakuta, Kaiju No. 8 Season 2, and DAN DA DAN Season 2.
