Tokyo, Japan – The upcoming anime film, You and Idol Precure: The Movie, has officially announced that prominent voice actresses Maaya Uchida and Ayane Sakura will be joining its cast as original new characters. The 34th Precure film is set to premiere in Japan on September 12, 2025.
Uchida, known for roles such as Catarina Claes in My Next Life as a Villainess: All Routes Lead to Doom!, will portray Tera, a red-haired girl who harbors a dislike for idols and encounters the main characters at Ai Ai Island, the venue for the Super Miracle Idol Festival. This marks Uchida’s second involvement in the Precure franchise, following her role as Empress Underg’s childhood self in Soaring Sky! Precure.
Ayane Sakura, recognized for her work as Ochaco Uraraka in My Hero Academia, will voice Amasu, a legendary goddess believed to have protected Ai Ai Island from past disasters. This film marks Sakura’s debut in the Precure franchise.
Film Details and Story Setting
The movie, officially titled Eiga Kimi to Idol Precure♪ Omatase! Kimi ni Todokeru KirakkiLive! (You and Idol Precure♪ The Movie: Thank You for Waiting! KirakkiLive for You!), is based on the 22nd installment of Toei Animation’s long-running Precure magical girl anime franchise, You and Idol Precure♪, which premiered in Japan on February 2, 2025. Crunchyroll is currently streaming the television series.
The film’s narrative unfolds on Ai Ai Island, where the “Super Miracle Idol Festival,” hailed as the universe’s number one idol festival, is being held. The protagonist, Uta Sakura, a middle school student who loves to sing, finds herself amidst idols from around the world. However, the festive atmosphere takes a turn when mysterious monsters known as Yami Kurage emerge from the sea, turning the island’s inhabitants to stone. The five Precures must then confront this crisis.
Connecting Past and Present Precure Generations
Beyond introducing new characters, the film will also feature appearances from characters of two previous Precure seasons: Soaring Sky! Pretty Cure and Wonderful Precure! This inclusion bridges different eras of the beloved magical girl series, offering a treat for long-time fans. The film will also introduce five new Precure characters: Cure Idol, Cure Wink, Cure Kyun-Kyun, Cure Zukyun, and Cure Kiss.
As a special theater gift, junior high school students and younger attendees in Japan will receive one of two randomly distributed “Miracle Ai-Ai Bracelets,” with a limited run of 500,000 units. A nationwide concert tour accompanying the film will also feature its theme song, with participating theaters streaming the tour’s final stop live.
