Sublime Manga, a boys’ love (BL) imprint of VIZ Media, has officially announced the acquisition and upcoming English language release of two new manga titles: Satomichi’s Bride of the Shark Clan (Samezoku e no Sasagemono) and Enjo’s Forest of the Rabbits (Usagi no Mori). These highly anticipated titles are slated for release in summer 2026, with Bride of the Shark Clan arriving on June 9, 2026, and Forest of the Rabbits following on July 14, 2026. Both will be available in both print and digital formats.
Bride of the Shark Clan: A Tale of Two Clans and Fates Intertwined
Satomichi’s Bride of the Shark Clan delves into a unique narrative centered around two island clans, the Tangata and Miyaru. A long-standing tradition dictates that the Tangata Clan presents a young adult to the Miyaru Clan annually to maintain peace. The story follows Avel, the patriarch’s son from the Tangata Clan, who grows increasingly discontent with the Miyaru Clan.
Plot Details and Previous English Release
A pivotal moment occurs when Avel is attacked by a beast, only to be rescued by Tukiri of the Miyaru Clan. Initially, Avel is disarmed by Tukiri’s kind demeanor, but the situation takes a drastic turn when Tukiri recognizes Avel’s bleeding and undergoes a monstrous transformation. This encounter is particularly significant for Avel, as a unique physiological aspect of the Tangata Clan means their first intimate experience determines their gender. The manga explores Avel’s panic and burgeoning pleasure as he faces the potential consequences of this unexpected encounter, especially as the next in line to become the clan’s patriarch.
Bride of the Shark Clan originally debuted in Takeshobo’s moment magazine in 2021, with the third compiled volume shipped in September 2023. Prior to Sublime Manga’s acquisition, Renta! had digitally released the manga in English under the title Sacrificed to the Shark Clan.
Forest of the Rabbits: A Deep Dive into Childhood Friendship and Evolving Feelings
Enjo’s Forest of the Rabbits explores the delicate transformation of a childhood friendship into something more profound. The narrative focuses on how the bond between childhood friends evolves and is tested when one of them realizes their feelings have deepened beyond platonic affection.
Publication History and Thematic Elements
The manga was initially serialized in Taiyoh Tosho’s Craft magazine in 2018. As of January 2021, two compiled volumes of the manga have been released in Japan. Forest of the Rabbits has also seen releases in other languages, including German, Spanish, and Italian under various titles such as Forest of Rabbits, El bosque de las liebres, and Rabbits’ Forest respectively. The series delves into themes of unrequited love, coming of age, and the complexities of changing relationships between childhood friends.
