Yuto Yotsuba, known for writing “Ya Boy Kongming!”, and Yoshie Katō, the artist behind the “Assassins Pride” manga adaptation, have launched a new manga series titled “Tōkyō Kinoko ~Sekai Ranking 1-i no Komyuryoku Saijaku JK~” (Tokyo Kinoko ~The High School Girl Ranked #1 in Weakest Social Skills World Leaderboard~). The new series debuted on Shueisha’s Tonari no Young Jump website last Friday.
The new manga is set in a contemporary world where, over the past 25 years, elements from a fantasy realm have begun to infiltrate. This encroachment has led to the emergence of global rankings for various individual strengths. The narrative follows Kinoko Kino, a high school girl who has recently relocated to Tokyo from Gunma. Despite her profound social anxieties, Kinoko aims to overcome her lack of social skills and forge friendships. Unbeknownst to her, she holds the top spot globally in an as-yet-undisclosed category.
