The highly anticipated mobile and PC game, Kaiju No. 8 THE GAME, is set to launch worldwide on August 31, 2025. A new trailer released in conjunction with the announcement confirms the global release date and offers a first look at game-original characters joining the ranks.
Worldwide Launch Imminent
Developed by Akatsuki Games in collaboration with TOHO and Production I.G, Kaiju No. 8 THE GAME will be available on iOS, Android, and PC via Steam. The global launch on August 31 (JST) comes after the game surpassed 850,000 pre-registrations, unlocking various in-game rewards for players. This milestone is a testament to the strong anticipation for the title, which was previously previewed at Anime Expo 2025 with an early demo.
New Trailer Showcases Gameplay and Original Content
The latest trailer provides an extensive look at the game’s cinematic, turn-based battle RPG mechanics, featuring both familiar faces from the manga and anime as well as new additions. The game aims to deliver exhilarating attacks with intuitive controls, staying true to the high-octane action of the source material. During a special “8th Day” broadcast, Kafka Hibino’s voice actor, Masaya Fukunishi, demonstrated live gameplay, showcasing high-end graphics and smooth control, along with in-game systems like Ultimates and “core exposure” sequences.
Introducing the CLOZER Unit and Original Characters
A significant reveal in the new trailer and accompanying key visual is the introduction of game-original characters, particularly members of a special unit called “CLOZER.” This new task force operates to counter threats from “Kaiju Dimensional Gates,” which have mysteriously appeared in the game’s original storyline.
Sagan Shinomiya
First teased in June, Sagan Shinomiya commands the CLOZER unit and plays a central role in the game’s exclusive narrative.
Chester Lockbern
Among the newly unveiled CLOZER members is Chester Lockbern, described as a powerful former British Defense Force member and the tactical advisor for the unit. He is skilled in using multiple weapon types.
Suited
Another compelling new character is Suited, a genius physicist and biologist responsible for developing CLOZER’s arsenal through Kaiju-based research. Her unbridled imagination allows her to create a wide range of unique weapons, marking her as a completely new type of character in the Kaiju No. 8 universe.
Pre-Registration Rewards and Future Milestones
The game’s successful pre-registration campaign has already unlocked rewards for all players at launch, including 4-star versions of Mina Ashiro and Soshiro Hoshina. An ultimate reward tier has also been announced, promising players a free 5-star character of their choice if pre-registrations reach one million.
