Sunrise has released an updated “Super Teaser Video Remake” for the upcoming sequel anime, Yoroi Shin Den Samurai Troopers, providing further glimpses into the new generation of heroes and teasing additional voice cast members beyond the previously announced protagonist. The highly anticipated series is set to premiere in January 2026.
Hiiro Ishibashi Confirmed as Protagonist Gai
Earlier announcements confirmed Hiiro Ishibashi as the voice of Gai, the 14-year-old protagonist who dons the Armor of Inferno to fight the demon clan (Youja). Gai is described as having a unique sense of taste, preferring unusual flavors. The new “super special remake version” of the teaser further highlights his role, showcasing “Scorching Heat” scenes.
Initialized Teasers for Four New Samurai Troopers
The updated teaser video introduces new scenes featuring four other Samurai Troopers, alongside Gai. While full names of the voice actors for these characters have not yet been explicitly stated, their initials were revealed, building anticipation for the full cast reveal.
The teased initials for the new cast members are:
- Suiren: Voiced by “AM”
- Kouya: Voiced by “ST”
- Soukyuu: Voiced by “JE”
- Senkou: Voiced by “KK”
These reveals suggest that the new series will introduce a fresh team of five young samurai, continuing the legacy of the original Yoroiden Samurai Troopers (known as Ronin Warriors in the West), which famously featured five main armored heroes. The silhouettes of these four additional characters, both before and after arming, were also depicted in the updated teaser.
A New Chapter for a Beloved Franchise
Yoroi Shin Den Samurai Troopers marks the first new anime for the franchise in approximately 35 years since the 1991 OVA Yoroiden Samurai Troopers MESSAGE, and the first TV anime series in about 37 years. The sequel will feature a completely original story set in present-day Shinjuku, where five boys don Yoroi Gear samurai armor to combat the demon emperor Arago.
The series is being produced by Sunrise, with Yōichi Fujita (Gintama, Mr. Osomatsu) directing the new anime. Shōgo Mutō (Crows Zero) is in charge of the script and series composition, and Hajime Yatate, the collective pen name for Sunrise’s creative staff, is credited with the original story. Character designs are handled by Yūhei Murota (Love Live!) for main characters and Tsukasa Kotobuki (MOBILE SUIT GUNDAM THE ORIGIN MSD Cucuruz Doan’s Island) for villains. Hideo Okamoto, who worked on the original Yoroi Gear design for Yoroiden Samurai Troopers, is returning for the original Yoroi Gear design, with Takuya Suzuki handling animated Yoroi Gear design. Shūji Katayama (Overlord) is composing the music.
Fans of the classic series can look forward to this new installment continuing the saga of armored warriors battling demonic forces when it airs in January 2026.
