Anime distributor REMOW has officially announced its acquisition of the streaming rights for Fermat Kitchen, the television anime adaptation of Yūgo Kobayashi’s manga Fermat no Ryōri (also known as Fermat’s Cuisine or Cuisson dans le Fermat). The series will begin streaming with its first five episodes on Saturday, August 9, across REMOW’s “It’s Anime” channel on Samsung TV Plus and its dedicated YouTube channel.
Initial Release and Weekly Schedule
Following the initial five-episode debut, new episodes of Fermat Kitchen will be released weekly on Saturdays. Episode 6 is slated for August 16, with Episode 7 following on August 23, and subsequent episodes continuing this Saturday schedule. The anime originally premiered on television in Japan on July 5, airing on TV Asahi and its affiliates within the “IMAnimation” programming block.
The Story of Fermat Kitchen
Fermat Kitchen centers on the intriguing intersection of mathematics and culinary arts. The story introduces Gaku Kitada, a prodigious mathematics scholar whose dreams of becoming a mathematician are derailed by setbacks. He then encounters Kai Asakura, a young but equally talented chef running his own food business. Gaku joins Kai, embarking on a new path where he applies his mathematical brilliance to the creation of innovative and exquisite dishes.
The manga, written and illustrated by Yūgo Kobayashi (known for Aoashi), began serialization in Kodansha’s Monthly Shonen Magazine in September 2018. A live-action TV drama adaptation of the manga previously aired in 2023.
Production and Cast Details
The Fermat Kitchen anime is produced by Domerica studio, which is also credited for series composition and scriptwriting. Kazuya Ichikawa directs the series, with Miyuki Kaieda serving as assistant director. Character designs are handled by Takeshi Okamoto and Satsuki Kashiwagi, who are also chief animation directors, while Satoshi Igarashi is composing the music.
