A new selection of Detective Conan (also known as Case Closed) episodes, featuring a brand-new English dub, is set to begin streaming on Netflix and Crunchyroll on August 21. This marks the second batch of “specially curated” episodes from the long-running mystery anime, focusing on the overarching “Conan vs. The Black Organization” storyline.
This release follows the initial wave of dubbed episodes that premiered on both platforms on July 3. The curated collection aims to provide both new and existing fans with key moments revolving around the series’ central antagonists, including episodes that have never before been officially released in the U.S.
Expanding the “Conan vs. The Black Organization” Arc
The “Conan vs. The Black Organization” selection highlights critical episodes featuring the mysterious criminal syndicate responsible for transforming high school detective Shinichi Kudo into the child-like Conan Edogawa. This focused approach allows viewers to follow the core narrative of Conan’s quest to expose and defeat the organization. The first batch of episodes released on July 3 included episodes 1-2, 128, 129 (a two-hour special), 176-178, and 230-231. While episodes 1 and 2 had seen prior official U.S. releases by Funimation, many in this curated selection are new to the American audience.
A New English Dub for a Beloved Series
The English dub accompanying these episodes is a new production, distinct from previous dubs by Funimation and Bang Zoom! Entertainment. While it features a new cast for many roles, some familiar voice actors have returned to the franchise, though occasionally in different capacities. For instance, Mark Stoddard reprises his role as Inspector Megure, and Colleen Clinkenbeard, known for voicing Rachel/Ran in the original dub, now voices Vermouth in the new rendition. This new dub is the first time the Detective Conan series has been available with an English dub on Crunchyroll, and it also marks the series’ debut on Netflix in the U.S. with dubbed episodes.
Detective Conan‘s Growing Presence in North America
The streaming expansion of Detective Conan episodes comes as TMS Entertainment prepares for the anime’s 30th anniversary in 2026. Beyond the episodic releases, TMS Entertainment has also been running a “Detective Conan: Cinema Saturdays” campaign on its “Anime! on TMS” YouTube channel. This initiative has been streaming various Detective Conan films with English dubs, providing fans with opportunities to experience the franchise’s cinematic history. Recent films streamed include Detective Conan: Sunflowers of Inferno on August 9, Detective Conan: Dimensional Sniper on August 16, and Detective Conan: The Scarlet Bullet on August 23.
The availability of more Detective Conan content with new English dubs on major streaming platforms like Netflix and Crunchyroll signals a renewed effort to introduce the iconic series to a broader North American audience.
