Crunchyroll has expanded its One Piece anime film library, officially adding One Piece: Episode of Alabasta – The Desert Princess and the Pirates, One Piece Film: Strong World, and One Piece Film: Z to its streaming catalog. These new additions, available as of August 14, 2025, significantly enhance the platform’s offering for fans of the Straw Hat Pirates.
Expanding the Grand Line on Crunchyroll
The addition of these three beloved films brings Crunchyroll’s total One Piece movie count to six, out of the fifteen films in the franchise. Previously, the streaming giant already featured One Piece Film: Gold, One Piece: Stampede, and the highly successful One Piece Film: Red. This expansion provides viewers with a more comprehensive selection of cinematic adventures from the long-running series.
The Newly Added One Piece Films
The newly available films span different eras and tones within the One Piece universe:
- One Piece: Episode of Alabasta – The Desert Princess and the Pirates (2007): This film serves as a condensed retelling of the pivotal Alabasta Arc, allowing fans to revisit Princess Vivi’s quest to save her country from Crocodile. While a condensed version of the anime arc, it’s a welcome addition for rewatches.
- One Piece Film: Strong World (2009): Notably overseen by One Piece manga creator Eiichiro Oda, Strong World introduces the villain Golden Lion Shiki, a character with ties to Gol D. Roger and the World Government. The film sees the Straw Hats battling Shiki after he kidnaps Nami, marking a significant original story within the film series.
- One Piece Film: Z (2012): This film features a former Marine Admiral named “Z,” who poses a formidable challenge to Luffy and his crew. One Piece Film: Z is praised for its epic action and compelling narrative, continuing to be a highly-rated film even a decade after its release. It’s recommended to watch after episode #578 of the anime for optimal context.
All three films are available in both their original Japanese audio with English subtitles and with English dubs.
A Growing One Piece Presence
Crunchyroll remains the primary destination for One Piece anime, boasting over 1,000 episodes on the platform, with many arcs featuring local dubs. The expansion of the movie library comes at an opportune time, as anticipation builds for the second season of the One Piece live-action series on Netflix. While some of these films have been available on other streaming platforms, their consolidation on Crunchyroll enhances the platform’s value for dedicated One Piece fans.
