Diving Into the Narrative: The Assassin’s Tale
My Status as an Assassin Obviously Exceeds the Hero’s, based on the light novel series by Matsuri Akai and illustrated by Tōzai, follows the story of Akira Oda, a high school student with an unusual “skill” for going unnoticed. When his entire class is summoned to a fantasy world by a king to become heroes, Akira is granted the abilities of a seemingly mediocre “assassin” due to his unassuming nature. However, his actual stats soon surpass those of even the strongest “hero” in this new realm.
The plot thickens as Akira becomes suspicious of the summoning king. His investigations lead him to uncover a sinister royal conspiracy, resulting in him being falsely framed for a crime and forced to flee into an unexplored labyrinth filled with monsters. There, he vows revenge on the king and seeks greater power. In the labyrinth, he discovers the legendary katana “Yatono-Kami,” a relic of the first hero, and rescues Amelia Rosequart, a reserved royal elf princess and skilled adventurer who begins to show more emotion after being saved by Akira.
