The highly anticipated second season of the anime series, ‘Tis Time for “Torture,” Princess, has released a new teaser trailer prominently featuring Sakura Heartlock, a new character set to join the cast. The comedic fantasy series is slated to begin airing in January 2026.
Sakura Heartlock Takes Center Stage
The recently unveiled teaser offers a glimpse into the upcoming season, with a particular focus on Sakura Heartlock. Described as an ex-assassin and a new character for the second season, Sakura’s introduction suggests fresh dynamics and challenges for the titular Princess. Voice actress Mutsumi Tamura has been confirmed to portray Sakura Heartlock. Her inclusion was previously announced at Jump Festa ’25.
Continuing the Comedic Torment
The second season will pick up on the unique premise that made the first season a hit. The story revolves around the Princess of the Imperial Army, who, despite wielding the mythical sword Excalibur, is captured and imprisoned by the demonic Hellhorde. Instead of traditional, brutal interrogation methods, the chief demon interrogator, Torture Tortura, employs hilariously tempting “tortures” such as fluffy toast, steaming ramen, and other irresistible delights to extract secrets from the Princess. The Princess’s struggle to resist these culinary and experiential temptations forms the core comedic element of the series. Crunchyroll has licensed the second season, ensuring its availability outside of East Asia.
Production Details and Original Work
The anime adaptation is based on the popular gag manga written by Robinson Haruhara and illustrated by Hirakei. The manga began serialization on Shonen Jump+ in April 2019 and has been compiled into 17 tankōbon volumes as of May 2025. PINE JAM is the animation studio behind the series, with Yoko Kanamori returning as director for Season 2. The first season premiered in Japan in January 2024.
