The official website for My Dress-Up Darling Season 2 has announced that Maki Kawase and Mayuko Kazama are joining the anime’s cast, beginning with episode 20. Kawase will voice Asahi Ogata, while Kazama will take on the role of Miyako Honda.
The second season of the popular romantic comedy anime, which premiered on July 5, 2025, has been streaming on Crunchyroll.
New Characters and Voice Actresses
Maki Kawase steps into the role of Asahi Ogata, described as Suzuka’s friend who has a passion for creating cosplay props. Kawase expressed her happiness to join the cast and her dedication to portraying Asahi’s charm in each episode.
Mayuko Kazama will portray Miyako Honda, a veteran cosplayer and also a friend of Suzuka. Kazama noted Miyako’s cheerful personality, her enjoyment of activities like stuffed animal crafts and cosplay, and her love for idols. Kazama also mentioned that Miyako’s character naturally made her smile during recording.
Both actresses expressed their excitement for fans to see how their characters, along with Suzuka, will interact with the main duo, Marin and Gojo.
My Dress-Up Darling Season 2: Continuing the Cosplay Journey
My Dress-Up Darling follows the heartwarming story of Wakana Gojo, a high school boy aspiring to become a master craftsman of traditional Japanese Hina dolls, and Marin Kitagawa, a popular classmate with a secret passion for cosplay. Their unexpected collaboration sees Wakana crafting intricate costumes for Marin, leading to a deepening of their bond.
The first season of the anime, produced by Studio CloverWorks, aired from January to March 2022. The same main staff, including director Keisuke Shinohara, series composer Yoriko Tomita, and character designer Kazumasa Ishida, have returned for Season 2. The second season was officially confirmed to air in July 2025.
The manga series by Shinichi Fukuda, which the anime is based on, concluded its serialization in March 2025, with its final 15th volume released in July 2025. The manga has surpassed 14 million copies in circulation.
New episodes of My Dress-Up Darling Season 2 are released on Saturdays at 5:30 PM BST / 12:30 PM EST on Crunchyroll. The English dub for Season 2 also began streaming, with AmaLee as Marin and Paul Dateh as Gojo.
