Crunchyroll has announced it will exclusively stream a two-part compilation film for the Chainsaw Man anime series in September, making it available to fans worldwide outside of Asia. Titled Chainsaw Man – The Compilation: Part I and Part II, these films will offer a re-edited recap of the first season and include new animated content called “Chainsaw Days,” which adapts bonus chapters from the original manga. This release precedes the highly anticipated theatrical debut of Chainsaw Man – The Movie: Reze Arc.
What to Expect from the Chainsaw Man Compilation Films
The upcoming compilation films are designed to refresh viewers’ memories of the Chainsaw Man anime’s first season while also providing fresh material for dedicated fans. Each part will serve as a feature-length recap, condensing the key events of Denji’s journey as the Chainsaw Man.
Chainsaw Days: New Animated Content
A significant draw for fans will be “Chainsaw Days” (also known as “Chainsaw Biyori”), which consists of newly animated adaptations of the omake (bonus) chapters found at the end of the Chainsaw Man manga volumes. These segments are expected to provide additional insights and lighthearted moments not seen in the original anime series, further enriching the Chainsaw Man universe. Stills from “Chainsaw Days” have already been revealed, building anticipation for these new additions.
Global Streaming and Theatrical Release Details
The Chainsaw Man – The Compilation: Part I and Part II will be available on Crunchyroll in North America, Central America, South America, Europe, Africa, Oceania, the Middle East, and CIS, with subtitles available at launch. While the compilation films arrive in September, Japanese audiences will first see them stream on the ABEMA service on September 5, ahead of their Crunchyroll debut.
Leading Up to the Reze Arc Movie
These compilation films are strategically released ahead of Chainsaw Man – The Movie: Reze Arc, which is a direct sequel to the first season of the anime and adapts the popular “Bomb Girl” arc from the manga. The Reze Arc movie is scheduled to premiere in Japanese cinemas on September 19, 2025. International theatrical releases for the Reze Arc movie will begin on September 24, with Sony Pictures releasing the film in the United States on October 29. The film will also screen in over 80 countries, with some Asian markets seeing it as early as September 24, and France on October 22. Notably, the Reze Arc movie will also be screened in 61 IMAX theaters across Japan.
The Chainsaw Man TV anime series, produced by MAPPA, originally aired from October to December 2022 and is currently streamed on Crunchyroll. The Reze Arc movie features Tatsuya Yoshihara as director and Hiroshi Seko returning as scriptwriter. Kenshi Yonezu, who provided the TV anime’s opening theme “KICK BACK,” also performs the movie’s theme song, “IRIS OUT”.
