Veteran voice actress Ryō Hirohashi, known for her roles as Minoru Mineta in My Hero Academia and Luna in Sailor Moon Crystal, has been officially cast in the new anime adaptation of Shō Makura and Takeshi Okano’s classic manga, Hell Teacher: Jigoku Sensei Nube. Hirohashi is set to portray a unique yokai, traditionally manifesting as a one-eyed umbrella, in the highly anticipated series slated for a July 2025 premiere.
The announcement highlights the continued expansion of the voice cast for the reboot, which promises to bring the beloved supernatural action-comedy to a new generation while updating its setting for the modern Reiwa era.

Ryō Hirohashi is a prominent Japanese voice actress affiliated with Aoni Production, celebrated for her versatility in voicing both young girls and boys. Born on August 5, 1977, Hirohashi has an extensive filmography that includes numerous iconic characters. Beyond her roles as the perpetually perverted Minoru Mineta in My Hero Academia and the wise feline advisor Luna in Sailor Moon Crystal, she is also widely recognized for voicing Miles “Tails” Prower in the Sonic the Hedgehog series, Kyou Fujibayashi in Clannad, and Sora Naegino in Kaleido Star. About the New Hell Teacher: Jigoku Sensei Nube Anime
The upcoming Hell Teacher: Jigoku Sensei Nube anime is produced by Studio Kai and directed by Yasuyuki Ōishi, with Yoshiki Ōkusa handling series composition and Yū Yoshiyama designing the characters. Evan Call is composing the music. The series is scheduled to air in July 2025 on TV Asahi’s new “IM Animation W” block.
The story revolves around Meisuke Nueno, affectionately known as “Nube,” a seemingly clumsy and kind homeroom teacher for Class 5-3 at Dōmori Elementary. However, Nube harbors a secret: he is a skilled exorcist with a powerful demon sealed in his left hand, known as the Demon’s Hand. He uses this power to protect his students and the town from an array of supernatural threats, ranging from school mysteries to malevolent spirits. The new adaptation aims to retain the charm of the original while offering a fresh visual and narrative approach suited to contemporary animation techniques.

The Jigoku Sensei Nube manga, written by Shō Makura and illustrated by Takeshi Okano, was originally serialized in Shueisha’s Weekly Shōnen Jump from August 1993 to May 1999. Over its run, the manga garnered significant popularity, with the overall franchise boasting over 29 million copies in circulation by July 2024.
The series previously received a 49-episode anime television adaptation by Toei Animation, which aired from April 1996 to August 1997. In addition to the TV series, there have been three anime movies and three original video animation (OVA) episodes. A ten-episode live-action television drama adaptation also aired on Nippon TV from October to December 2014. The enduring appeal of Jigoku Sensei Nube, with its blend of occult action, horror, and comedy, continues to resonate, making this new anime adaptation a highly anticipated event for both long-time fans and new viewers.
