The highly anticipated anime adaptation of Ippei Nara’s “29-Sai Dokushin Chūken Bōkensha no Nichijō” (The Daily Life of a Single 29-Year-Old Adventurer) has revealed its main cast and is set to premiere in January 2026. This announcement comes with excitement for fans of the fantasy manga, which promises a blend of comedy, emotion, and slice-of-life adventures.
Key Cast Members Bring Characters to Life
The anime adaptation has secured a talented voice cast to embody its central characters. Makoto Furukawa, known for his roles as Saitama in One-Punch Man and Benimaru in That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime, will lend his voice to the protagonist, Shinonome Hajime. Joining him is Sayumi Suzushiro, who will voice the young girl Rirui. Suzushiro has previously contributed to anime such as The Magnificent KOTOBUKI and We Never Learn: BOKUBEN.
Further expanding the cast, Shizuka Itō will play Veronica, Yūki Kuwahara is cast as Anyango, and Tomohiro Ōno takes on the role of Richat. These additions promise to bring a rich dynamic to the series’ ensemble.
Production Details and Creative Team
The anime series is being produced by Studio Hornets, a studio known for its work on “7th Time Loop: The Villainess Enjoys a Carefree Life Married to Her Worst Enemy!”. Riki Fukushima (also credited as Toshinori Fukushima in some reports) is at the helm, directing the series and overseeing the series composition. Character designs are handled by Yoshihiro Nagamori, who has worked on titles like Beyblade X. Nagamori expressed the creative challenge of maintaining fidelity to the evolving manga while crafting expressive and dynamic designs.
Manga author Ippei Nara also shared a celebratory illustration to commemorate the anime announcement.
The Story of a Mismatched Duo
“29-Sai Dokushin Chūken Bōkensha no Nichijō” is based on Ippei Nara’s manga, which began serialization in Kodansha’s Bessatsu Shōnen Magazine in January 2016. The series has been compiled into 19 tankōbon volumes as of May 2025.
The story centers on Shinonome Hajime, a 29-year-old mid-level adventurer who, despite his experience, lives a relatively relaxed life in the village of Komai. His world changes when, during a dungeon quest, he encounters a young girl named Rirui on the brink of being attacked by a slime monster. Rirui, abandoned and alone, reminds Hajime of his own difficult past. Unable to leave her to fend for herself, Hajime decides to take her in, initiating a unique “found family” dynamic. Their journey together is described as a “slapstick adventure fantasy” filled with laughter, occasional tears, and heartwarming moments as their bond deepens.
The narrative promises a cozy fantasy with “lighthearted dungeon days” and a focus on small triumphs and gentle comedy. With its January 2026 premiere, fans can look forward to seeing this charming adventure brought to animated life.
