Voice actress Megumi Han is set to perform “Hikari no Nami” (Light Wave), the theme song for Mizuiro no Sasha (The Aqua Sasha), the fourth film in the Be Forever Yamato: Rebel 3199 series. The song, which also serves as a character song for Sasha—a role Han voices—is scheduled for release on September 30, ahead of the film’s October 10 premiere in Japan.

Megumi Han’s involvement marks a significant connection to the franchise’s history, as she took over the role of Sasha in the second Be Forever Yamato: Rebel 3199 film. This role was originally voiced by her mother, veteran voice actress Keiko Han, in the 1980 Be Forever Yamato film. Megumi Han is widely recognized for her roles as Gon Freecss in Hunter x Hunter and Kana Arima in Oshi no Ko. Her mother, Keiko Han, is also known for iconic roles such as Lalah Sune in Mobile Suit Gundam.
Be Forever Yamato: Rebel 3199 Series Overview
The Be Forever Yamato: Rebel 3199 project is an ambitious seven-part animated film series that serves as a sequel to Star Blazers 2205 and a remake of both the 1980 Be Forever Yamato film and the Space Battleship Yamato III television series. The series aims to reinterpret and expand upon these classic narratives for a new generation.
Previous Installments and Release Schedule
The first film in the series, Kuro no Shinryaku (Dark Invasion), debuted in July 2024, earning over 58 million yen in its opening three days. This was followed by the second film, Sekijitsu no Shutsugeki (The Assault of the Burning Sun), which premiered in Japan in November 2024 and garnered over 64 million yen in its initial three days. The third film, Gunjō no Asteroid (Ultramarine Asteroid), opened in April 2025. Crunchyroll is streaming the anime internationally under the title Star Blazers: Space Battleship Yamato 3199. The Blu-ray Disc and DVD for the fourth film, Mizuiro no Sasha, are slated to ship in Japan on December 24.
Production Team Behind the Remake
The Be Forever Yamato: Rebel 3199 series is animated by Studio Mother. Naomichi Yamato directs the new anime, with Harutoshi Fukui serving as supervising director, head writer, and scriptwriter, roles he also held in previous installments of the remake series. Hideki Oka is also credited as a co-writer on the script, and Nobuteru Yūki returns as the character designer. The musical score is composed by Akira Miyagawa and Shu Kanematsu, with Akira Miyagawa’s late father and original Space Battleship Yamato composer, Hiroshi Miyagawa, also receiving credit for music.
