Kumiko Suekane, the celebrated manga artist behind “RWBY: Ice Queendom The Comic,” has unveiled her latest work, an isekai manga titled “Maō to Hajimeru RPG” (Starting an RPG with the Demon King). The new series officially launched on September 27 on Overlap’s Comic Gardo website.
A New Adventure in Another World
“Maō to Hajimeru RPG” plunges readers into a world grappling with a peculiar phenomenon: human disappearances, believed to be instances of reincarnation into another realm. The story follows high school student Yoshimichi Itoi, whose childhood friend Yūma Amamiya mysteriously vanishes. Driven by a desire to reach this “other world,” their classmate Otogi pushes Yoshimichi off a building. He disappears mid-air, only to awaken in an unfamiliar new world.
This marks Suekane’s latest venture into the fantasy genre, offering a fresh narrative with elements of mystery and adventure that will undoubtedly appeal to fans of the popular isekai trend.

Suekane recently concluded her work on “RWBY: Ice Queendom The Comic,” the manga adaptation of the “RWBY: Ice Queendom” anime series. This adaptation, which brought the fantastical battles and youthful struggles of Team RWBY to manga readers, was serialized in Kadokawa’s Monthly Comic Dengeki Daioh magazine from June 2022 to 2023. Kadokawa published the manga’s third and final compiled book volume in December 2023.
