Fans globally can now get a clearer look at the upcoming “Disney Twisted-Wonderland The Animation” as an English-subtitled trailer has been released. The promotional video offers an immersive glimpse into the anime’s unique premise, inspired by iconic Disney villains, ahead of its October 29 debut on Disney+.
The trailer provides an English-subtitled version of the anime’s “payoff” promotional video, which originally aired in Japan. It also features the ending theme song “Obedience” by the Heartslabyul Dorm students and includes narration by veteran Disney film dub actor Kōichi Yamadera, who introduces the characters and their villainous inspirations through footage from classic Disney films.
Diving into the World of Twisted-Wonderland
“Disney Twisted-Wonderland” is an anime adaptation of the popular Japanese mobile game created by Aniplex and Walt Disney Japan. The game, which launched in Japan in 2020 and in North America in 2022, has garnered significant attention, with over 4.8 million downloads in Japan as of August 2025.
A Tale of Disney Villains Reimagined
The anime draws its inspiration from seven legendary Disney villains, known as the “Great Seven”. These figures—the Queen of Hearts, the King of Beasts (Scar), the Sea Witch (Ursula), the Sorcerer of the Sands (Jafar), the Fairest Queen (Evil Queen), the King of the Underworld (Hades), and the Thorn Fairy (Maleficent)—inspire the seven magical dormitories at Night Raven College, an elite academy for mages.
Plot and Protagonist
The story follows an ordinary Tokyo high school student named Yuken Enma, who is mysteriously transported to the magical world of Twisted-Wonderland. He finds himself at the enrollment ceremony for Night Raven College, a prestigious magic training academy. Unable to wield magic, Yuken is offered protection by the school’s masked headmaster and must navigate this strange new world while trying to find a way back home. He becomes entangled in adventures with his troublesome new classmates, Ace and Deuce, particularly within the strict Heartslabyul dorm.
